Introduction & Overview

On August 8, 2026, RAPID Charity marked a major milestone by hosting its First Alumni Meeting. Organised to strengthen community support, mentorship, and long-term programme sustainability. The virtual gathering brought together dedicated former scholars, Rapid representatives—including Khushnud Azariah, Resha Qadir Bakhsh, and Azher Adil—and passionate alumni from across the region.

Despite technical challenges from adverse weather in Lahore, enthusiasm among participants remained high.

Key Highlights & Discussions

  • Sustainability: Discussions centered on how former scholars can support RAPID Charity through international donations (via PayPal) or direct local contributions in Pakistani Rupees.

  • Giving Back Beyond Finances: Leadership emphasized that time and expertise are just as valuable. Alumni can contribute significantly by mentoring students, teaching, and serving as resource persons.

  • Spotlight on Local Projects:

    • Al-Noor School (Rawalpindi): Providing accelerated primary education, successfully mainstreaming nearly 20 out-of-school children over the past two years.

    • Sanjha Vehra (Lahore): Empowering women and youth through vocational skills (stitching, embroidery) with upcoming expansions into computer literacy and digital skills.

  • New Mentorship & Resource Initiatives: The network established a structured mentorship initiative to pair alumni with current scholars for academic and career guidance.

Alumni Commitments & Leadership

The alumni response was overwhelmingly positive, with several members immediately stepping up to offer their time and expertise:

  • Farah Tariq volunteered to conduct a dedicated Zoom webinar on 15 August 2026 for students preparing for CSS and government competitive exams, alongside offering support at the Sanjha Vehra Centre.

  • Shahid Masih offered to mentor current scholars and leverage his teaching background to support Grades 9, 10, O-Level, and A-Level students at Sanjha Vehra.

  • Abid Arif and Shiraz Kaleem pledged their active participation in upcoming assignments and alumni activities.

To drive these initiatives forward, a five-member Alumni Coordination Committee was established, featuring Shiraz Kaleem, Abid Arif, Farah Tariq, Zakariya, and Shahid Masih. Shiraz Kaleem was appointed as the initial Alumni Coordinator for a six-month term.

Looking Ahead

The newly formed committee is already looking to the future, with planning underway for an exciting RAPID Charity Alumni and Current Scholar get-together in December 2026.

RAPID Charity extends its deepest gratitude to all participating alumni for their enduring dedication. Together, we are building a stronger, more supportive community for the next generation of scholars.

"The meeting concluded on a powerful note of unity, with participants reaffirming their shared commitment to empowering disadvantaged communities through education and mentorship."
